Fortnite patch notes for update 33.11 – new skins, map changes and bug fixes arrive for Winterfest

Fortnite Winterfest 2024 is almost here, and new patch notes and leaks hint at the biggest festive event the game has ever seen, packed with new skins, NPCs and items.

This year’s Fortnite Winterfest is shaping up to be the very best we’ve ever had. The festive event is shaping up to be a big deal, with our recent exploration of the Fortnite Winterfest update release date unveiling new skins for Snoop Dogg and Shaq, fresh Ice Skates and a snowed-out map.

Now that the game has left downtime, though, leaks are starting to flow out, and they’re implying that we could be in for the biggest holiday celebration the game has ever seen. And we thought the Fortnite Skibidi Toilet collab would be enough to tide fans over. How foolish we were.

Fortnite patch notes for 33.11 – bug fixes

Every time Fortnite patch notes appear, they’re mostly via the Fortnite community Trello board, which reveals the bugs and issues that the Epic Games team is focussing on regarding the Fortnite launcher. Here’s everything that was marked as ‘Fixed in Next Game Update’ before the downtime began, indicating the arrival of a fix in Fortnite 33.11:

Battle Royale / Reload / OG

Daigo issuing incorrect Duel rewards – After being defeated in a duel, Daigo offers a Common Holo Twister Assault Rifle or some wood.

Players may get stuck in ‘Toggle Walk’ mode at times – sometimes, players may see their character stuck in the ‘Toggle Walk’ mode while tring to run or swim at an intended pace. Sprinting is not affected. As a temporary workaround, please try unbinding the ‘Force Walk (Toggle)’ and ‘Force Walk (Hold’ buttons.

Lego Fortnite

Unable to place decor or furniture items in Houses or Lots – When the player selects a piece of decor or furniture and clicks on ‘Place,’ the Build Menu might not pop up. Temporary workaround: rejoining the session should resolve this.

Fortnite Festival

Player 2, 3 or 4 unable to take control as Player 1 (PS4, Xbox) – When players try to take control in the Lobby by holding the ‘Take Control’ button, screen may turn fully black, and the button may not respond. This will cause the inability to change any Settings or Locker items. Temporary Workaround: To exit the black screen state, hold Start as Player 1 to regain control.

Jam Track preview continues to play outside the Music Library – While in Backstage, players who select a Jam Track and then quickly close the Music Library may hear the preview load in late and continue playing. Temporary Workaround: Open the Music Library, wait for a preview to load, then close it.

Leakers have been seriously mobilising and delivering on some massive leaks as to what we can expect from Fortnite Winterfest – including the arrival of Mariah Carey, the reveals of the free skins to expect from the Cozy Cabin, and a lot, lot more. Here’s what you can expect from the Winterfest event:

The arrival of Mariah Carey in Fortnite, who will join the Item Shop and be present on the map frozen in ice (via @SpushFNBR) Mariah Carey will also appear on the map as an NPC and gift a free 'All I Want for Christmas is You' emote after she has defrosted (via @SpushFNBR) New skins will debut in the Item shop including Durrr Sushi and a Christmas Tree Guff (via @SpushFNBR, and @Hypex) Festive Shaq and Snoop Dogg skins, which have now been seen for the first time (via @Hypex) Speaking of Snoop Dogg, his festive skin and Yukejacket will be the two free skins in Cozy Cabin (via @Hypex) As part of the DC returns that brought back the Beast Boy skin, Starfire and Harley Quinn will return to the Item Shop after two years (via @Hypex) A Ninja Batman and Harley Quinn DC collab is incoming, along with the arrival of the Lamborghini Urus SE and the return of Master Chief (via @Hypex) Snowbell has returned to the Item Shop for the first time in two years, too (via @Hypex) Ice Skates will join the game and allow you to skate across frozen lakes, along with the addition of the Blizzard Grenade and the Hunting Rifle (via @Hypex and via a separate tweet) A Cyberpunk collaboration will be coming in this update, featuring hinted skins and vehicles (via @Hypex) Teases for the arrival of Hatsune Miku have appeared at Seaport City (via @Hypex) A new snowy map (via @Hypex)
